The city was founded by the Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in the 1728 and remain traces of the domain of this family.
Also known as the "pink city", because many houses and buildings are of this color.
Near the palace there is a particular building theHawa Mahal (or palace of the wind), built as a home for the women of the royal family protected by a five-storey pink sandstone beehive façade. On the hill stands the imposing Amer Fort, several kilometers from the city center, tourists are accompanied on excursions on the back of the elephants up to the Fort. More information about Jaipur.
